Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Apple Fritter Bites, perfect for a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ⅓ cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup peeled & finely diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tbsp milk (or apple cider for extra flavor)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix milk, egg, and vanilla until combined.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined (don’t overmix).
  4. Fold in the diced apples. Batter will be thick.
  5. Heat oil in a heavy pot or deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Drop small spoonfuls of batter (about 1 tablespoon each) into the hot oil.
  7. Fry 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk (or cider), and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Dip each warm fritter bite into the glaze, letting excess drip off.
  11. Place on a wire rack to set.

Notes

  • Use chopped pecans or walnuts in the batter for crunch.
  • Add a little maple syrup to the glaze for a fall twist.
  • If you don’t want to fry, bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes, then glaze.
