A simple and delicious banana bread recipe that is perfect for using up ripe bananas.

- 2–3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup sugar (or ¾ cup if you prefer sweeter)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- Optional: 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 loaf pan or line with parchment.
- In a bowl, combine mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Add baking soda, salt, and flour. Mix gently until just combined (don’t overmix).
- Fold in walnuts or chocolate chips if desired.
- Pour batter into the loaf pan and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool before slicing and enjoy warm with butter or toasted!
Notes
- For a sweeter bread, increase sugar to ¾ cup.
- Feel free to customize with your favorite add-ins like nuts or chocolate chips.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
