Description

Delicious cinnamon swirl waffles topped with a creamy glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream cheese drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron according to manufacturer’s guidance.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined; avoid overmixing.
  4. In a small bowl, blend melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a corner snipped.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron. Pour about 1/2 cup of batter into the center, then pipe a spiral of the cinnamon mixture onto the batter. Close and cook until golden and crisp, approximately 3–4 minutes per waffle. Repeat until all batter and swirl are used.
  6. In a bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, mixing until the glaze is pourable.
  7. Serve waffles warm, generously drizzling with the cream cheese topping.
