Description

A deliciously moist red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 9 inch cake pans.
  2. Whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Mix sugar, oil, and eggs then add buttermilk, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.
  4. Combine dry and wet ingredients gently until smooth.
  5. Divide batter into pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until set.
  6. Cool completely before frosting.
  7. Beat cream cheese and butter then add powdered sugar and vanilla.
  8. Assemble cake and frost evenly.
