Ingredients

- 1 lb lean ground beef (80/20 mix)
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 medium onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with diced onion and minced garlic until the meat is no longer pink and onions are translucent.
- Stir in salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Simmer for a few minutes until fragrant.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into squares large enough to hold about two tablespoons of filling.
- Place two tablespoons of cooled beef mixture in the center of each pastry square. Fold into triangles and crimp edges to seal.
- Whisk egg with a splash of water and brush over each pie.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed before rolling out.
- These pies can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking.
