Description

Delicious sweet orange rolls topped with a creamy glaze.


Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • ⅓ cup potato flakes
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (filling)
  • ½ tsp ground ginger (filling)
  • 2 tsp orange zest (filling)
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice (filling)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (glaze)
  • 2 tsp orange zest (glaze)
  • 2 Tbsp orange juice (glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; cool slightly.
  2. Combine potato flakes with hot water until smooth.
  3. In a stand mixer, mix yeast mixture, milk mixture, potato mix, and beaten egg. Gradually add flour to form a sticky dough and knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about an hour or until doubled.
  5. Prepare filling by mixing sugar, ginger, orange zest, and enough orange juice to resemble wet sand.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread with butter and sprinkle filling evenly before rolling tightly.
  7. Cut into rolls and place on greased baking sheet; mix in powdered sugar and remaining glaze ingredients.
  8. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container.
  • These rolls can be frozen for up to 2 months.
