Description

Crispy potato pancakes filled with savory beef and cheese, perfect for a hearty meal or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 small onion, finely grated (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 23 tablespoons oil or butter (for frying)
  • 250 g (about 1/2 lb) ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika or chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or your choice)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
  3. Add the ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and paprika (if using).
  4. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Set aside to cool slightly.
  5. Grate the potatoes and squeeze out excess water using a clean kitchen towel.
  6. In a bowl, combine grated potatoes, eggs, flour, onion (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and slightly sticky.
  7. Heat oil or butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  8. Take a spoonful of potato mixture and flatten it in the pan to form a pancake.
  9. Add a spoonful of the beef filling and some shredded cheese on top.
  10. Cover with another spoonful of potato mixture, pressing edges to seal.
  11. Fry each pancake for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  12. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  13. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot with sour cream, yogurt, or your favorite dipping sauce.
