Description

Tuna Melt Patties are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that combines tuna, cheese, and seasonings into flavorful patties that can be fried or baked.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained well
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
  • 2 green onions, finely sliced (or 2 tbsp minced onion)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, adds tang)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 12 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine tuna, breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, cheese, parsley, onions, mustard, garlic powder, pepper, and lemon juice.
  2. Stir until mixture is well combined. If too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
  3. Form the mixture into 6–8 patties (about ½-inch thick).
  4. Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry patties for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and heated through.
  6. Garnish with parsley and serve hot with tartar sauce, garlic aioli, or even between buns like a tuna melt burger.

Notes

  • Add chopped pickles or relish for extra zing.
  • For spice, mix in a pinch of red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños.
  • Swap mayo for Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • These patties can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes if you prefer less oil.
