Tuna Melt Patties are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that combines tuna, cheese, and seasonings into flavorful patties that can be fried or baked.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained well
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
- 2 green onions, finely sliced (or 2 tbsp minced onion)
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, adds tang)
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1–2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter (for frying)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine tuna, breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, cheese, parsley, onions, mustard, garlic powder, pepper, and lemon juice.
- Stir until mixture is well combined. If too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
- Form the mixture into 6–8 patties (about ½-inch thick).
- Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry patties for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and heated through.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot with tartar sauce, garlic aioli, or even between buns like a tuna melt burger.
Notes
- Add chopped pickles or relish for extra zing.
- For spice, mix in a pinch of red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños.
- Swap mayo for Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
- These patties can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes if you prefer less oil.
