Description
Deliciously crispy wonton bites filled with creamy strawberry cheesecake.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, finely diced
- 20 wonton wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and creamy. Fold in the finely diced strawberries. The mixture should be thick, slightly pink, and fragrant with fresh berry sweetness.
- Assemble the Wontons: Lay a wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place about one teaspoon of the cheesecake filling in the center. Brush the edges lightly with beaten egg. Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle, pressing firmly to seal and remove any air pockets.
- Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). The oil should be hot but not smoking. A small test piece of wonton should sizzle immediately when added.
- Fry Until Golden: Carefully place a few wontons into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pan. Fry for 1–2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crisp.
- Drain and Dust: Remove the wontons using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Once slightly cooled, dust generously with powdered sugar.
- Serve warm for the best texture and flavor contrast.
Notes
- This recipe brings back memories of baking cheesecake as a child—simple, sweet, and comforting.
- Sealing the wontons well prevents leaks while frying.
